Get to Know Lauren
Lauren grew up in the suburbs of Wilmington, Delaware, an area very similar to Lake Stevens. She attended public schools, participated in sports and Girl Scouts, and explored everything that she and her siblings could reach within range of their bicycles. As a teen, Lauren worked as a babysitter and then as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the local YMCA. Becoming involved with the drama club in high school gave Lauren the springboard into her college studies, career, and eventual family life.
Post-college, Lauren spent her years working for theaters and festivals in the Northeast before settling back in Wilmington to begin a family with her husband, Duke. During this time she worked as a grants manager and fundraiser in the nonprofit sector, and volunteered with the local childrens hospital, animal rescue, gun violence prevention advocate, and arts organizations.
The Cahills moved out west in 2015 with Boeing, and in 2019 relocated to Lake Stevens primarily
because of its reputation for outstanding schools. Her two daughters now thrive in the Lake
Stevens School District, attending Lake Stevens Middle School and Glenwood Elementary. At this time Lauren also began working for the YMCA of Snohomish County, working in financial development and accounting. She is proud to work for an organization that fosters strong, supportive communities.
The family can often be found enjoying all the area has to offer. They enjoy skiing at Stevens Pass, kayaking in the lake, taking their dog for hikes, and decimating each other in Uno at local breweries.
"I truly love volunteering at my daughters' schools and contributing to local groups. I've made my new friends through involvement with the PTA, Being Neighborly group, AquaFest, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Down to Earth Community Gardens, and Friends of the Lake Stevens Library. Helping to make Lake Stevens a vibrant place for all has helped me make lasting connections while having a positive impact on the community."
